Today marks the 35^th anniversary for Manny Gonzalez, a bartender who has worked the same shift as far as he can remember. Thirty five years at the same job is a long time no matter where you work or what you do. The Ellis’ saw something special in Manny one day back in 1977 and wanted him to be a part of their family. Ellis Island is family to this day and you see it in everything we do. This is a great example of an employee who takes pride in where he works and the job he performs. He is a landmark just as much as the building he tends bar in. Manny says it’s just another day but it’s more than that to the Ellis family, it’s a milestone. We should all be as dedicated to our place of employment and our jobs as Manny is. Thank you from the entire Ellis Island family.

 After his passing, the Egg Nog disappeared from the family gatherings but not from Gary’s memories. Determined to bring it back, Gary spent hours looking through old papers his grandfather had and then, jackpot! Although he was just twenty-two years when his grandfather passed away, he had time to enjoy the great Egg Nog. After many years of making it for family and friends Gary wanted to share the Egg Nog with everyone. Now we all can taste this wonderful drink together.

 Once the tanks arrived at Ellis Island the crew ran in to a few logistical problems starting with their size. They would not fit through the doors leading into the brewery but that didn’t stop them. The crew got to work removing the door and part of the frame to make way for the tanks to be rolled into the brewery. The next challenge was getting the tanks upright and into their correct positions. Using a pulley system located on the ceiling, they were slowly lifted into the air and placed gently down in their upright position.

 Now that the tanks have found their home and are leveled, Joe and his team set up all the equipment necessary to get the tanks up and running. Temperature control gauges are installed followed by filling the tanks with water to calibrate and check for leaks. They are then pickled (making sure the stainless steel is pacified) only then are they ready to enter into duty and serve the guests at Ellis Island, Village Pubs, and Metro Pizza.

 Each tank holds 36 barrels and each barrel contains 330 bottles of beer so how many beers does each tank hold?  Cheers!

Each beer is inspired by different brewing styles from around the world.

Light: A classic light beer made in the American tradition. Excellent taste, light, crisp, and very easy to drink. With a 1/3 less calories!

Dark: Not to be confused with “bock” beer, a rich, smooth, malty, and full body flavor.

Amber: A distinctive amber ale that contains a lot of hops with a European taste and a great caramel color.

Hefe Weiss: Made with wheat and malt, a light effervescent drink with the yeast left in the beer and is brewed in the traditional German style. Always served with a slice of fresh lemon.
